Oy! It’s always so nerve racking taking pictures for another photographer! However, it’s also exciting…
We recently had the opportunity to work with Dustin & Tiffany Izatt, of Digital Izatt Photography. They’re good friends of ours, with some WAY cute kids.
We scheduled the sitting 3 weeks in advance. We woke up the morning of the shoot, and the sky was grey. We called Tiffany, and she said, “So what? We’ve got umbrellas and galoshes!” Definitely our type of client! Even better, her girls LOVE to play in the rain!
The photos prove a point. A good photographer can get GREAT photos anywhere, anytime. Family sessions usually slow down this time of year because people think they won’t turn out. We beg to differ. We’d love to photograph a snowball fight, building a snowman, or sipping hot cocoa on the back porch (so call us, okay?!).
All four seasons present unique photo opportunities in Utah. Let’s take advantage of them, kay?
Dustin & Tiff, thanks for letting us be a part of your day. We had such a fun time taking these pictures with you and your family and we look forward to the next sitting!

People ask us all the time if we do family portraits. The answer is YES. We love photographing kids in particular. We have our own style and like to do a mix of the formal portrait and some fun “Your Family” portraits. By this we mean we like to, when we can, capture your family being “your family.” What does your family do together? From hot cocoa and story time, to baseball games or snowboarding, we want you to have the photos to remember it. These are the funnest, least stressful sessions on you and your kids. No worrying about whether the kids are looking and smiling at the camera. Everyone gets to just be themselves.
A few weekends ago Tim and I were photographing a wedding and met Erin Blackwelder and her beautiful family. We talked a little bit about family photos and how adorable her girls are. A few days later she called us up to see if we could do her and two of her neighbors family photos up in Alpine. I was so excited, I absolutely love Alpine and this time of year it is just gorgeous. We set a date that everyone could do them and they turned out fantastic. The next three post are all of the Alpine neighbors I hope you all love these!

The Lee’s were the first family I photographed of the Alpine neighbors. I was so thrilled when I saw the yummiest freckles I have ever seen! There is nothing like freckles in black and white. The whole family are skiers and we are planning to head up the mountain and get some shots of them in their element when the season starts. I’ve got some great ideas already, but for now, enjoy these ones!

The Kelly’s are were up for anything, and did it with personality. We did some classic shots then just had fun playing in the fall leaves. Maddie and Conner got buried by Mom and Dad up to their chins! We did the photos at Cherie’s parents beatiful property up in Alpine. Before I knew it they were off to Connor’s game, I was routing for you!!

I was so excited to have the opportunity to photograph the Blackwelders. What an awesome family. Ben (Dad) is a craftsman and is building the most intricate and unique house for his sister in Alpine. We took a few of the photos in/around the barn (looks more like a french chateau than a barn) that he has done as part of the property. Then we headed up to a park to shoot the rest. Erin (Mom) looked great, although I have never seen her look anything but. Brooke and Ellie are just scrumptious. Ellie is quite the dancer, especially if High School Musical is playing. I had so much fun with you guys!

Tim and I have the been lucky enough to become acquainted with Ryan and Kim Winterton and their amazingly adorable (and SMART!) daughter Norah. Tim has known Ryan for a little while now. I met Kim and Norah for the first time on the day of our photo shoot and I can’t even say how cute of a family they are. We had so much fun photographing you guys! I hope we can do it again soon.

I got to photograph Zander again a little while ago. By now I am SURE I am his favorite photographer (unless Lori has been sneaking him somewhere unspeakable to have his photographs done and then hiding them when I come around). Just think, you can truly watch him growing up on the blog. He has turned into a little boy and isn’t a baby anymore. I can’t believe how fast time has gone by since we took his first portraits while he was still in his mom’s belly. As always, it’s an absolute pleasure to photograph him.

We took pictures of the Moll family on the 23rd of July. Cameron is a colleague of Tim’s. What a great bunch they’ve got, but they’re clearly outnumbered. With 4 boys (6,5,4 and 2 years in age) they’ve got a HANDFUL. Heck, photographing them was a handful, but loads of fun. Even still, we got some really great shots of the family. We started off at the Salt Lake Temple to get some nice family portraits. Then we went to the park and cut loose playing some baseball. The kids got so wrapped up in the game that they totally forgot we were even taking pictures, which is when we got some of our funnest shots.
Cameron & Suzanne, thanks for letting us spend the afternoon with your wonderful family. You’ve got great kids and we hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do!
