We’ve got something BIG happening at Retrospect. A major event will be kicked off in early 2008, and we’re oh so super excited about it. We’re not going to say too much, but what we will say… is that we want YOUR help.
We’re looking for people with personality, big personality, ages 1 to 100 to photograph in our studio downtown. We want every type of person we can find. How do you get in on the fun? Fill out our contact form here. Ignore the fields about dates and such, just tell us you want in and make sure we have a way to contact you. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never worked with us before, or if we took your pictures yesterday.
Those who are selected to join will get studio pictures taken for free, prints will be available after the announcement. You will need to sign a model release, and you should know that the pictures will be seen by A LOT of people.
So what are you waiting for!?!? There is a limited number of spaces available and time is already running out, SO JUMP ON IT!
PS– Close friends and family, we know you’ll all expect to be let in on the secret right away… Sorry. Our lips are sealed. Big ideas just can’t help but get talked about. We promise though, you’ll be the first to know.

A while ago we went out to do Andrea’s bridal session. We brought Blake along because we knew that there wasnt going to be sufficient time or light to get a lot of “formal” portraits of just the two of them on their wedding day. Bringing your groom along on your bridal session is a fantastic way to get a lot of extra photos of the two of you as well as more variety in your locations. Since most of the trees have lost their leaves and things are beginning to look like winter, we headed down town for some hip architecture shots then up the hill for the sunset. Andrea is absolutely stunning. There isnt a better word to describe her. Blake is pretty cute too. You two are awesome to work with. Can’t wait for the wedding!

No no, we’re staying in the same location. Our website and e-mail host however, is about to change. Our current web host, is extremely unreliable. They’ve caused oodles of problems with our e-mail and the blog. We haven’t moved yet, because moving a Wordpress blog can be tricky. I’ve figured it out, so we’re taking the plunge.
The move is scheduled to take place this weekend (Saturday night / Sunday). The web site and e-mail might be down for a brief period of time. If you have trouble getting e-mails through, you can always call if you’ve got our number.

Oy! It’s always so nerve racking taking pictures for another photographer! However, it’s also exciting…
We recently had the opportunity to work with Dustin & Tiffany Izatt, of Digital Izatt Photography. They’re good friends of ours, with some WAY cute kids.
We scheduled the sitting 3 weeks in advance. We woke up the morning of the shoot, and the sky was grey. We called Tiffany, and she said, “So what? We’ve got umbrellas and galoshes!” Definitely our type of client! Even better, her girls LOVE to play in the rain!
The photos prove a point. A good photographer can get GREAT photos anywhere, anytime. Family sessions usually slow down this time of year because people think they won’t turn out. We beg to differ. We’d love to photograph a snowball fight, building a snowman, or sipping hot cocoa on the back porch (so call us, okay?!).
All four seasons present unique photo opportunities in Utah. Let’s take advantage of them, kay?
Dustin & Tiff, thanks for letting us be a part of your day. We had such a fun time taking these pictures with you and your family and we look forward to the next sitting!

Andrea and Blake are absolutely smokin’ hot. They are full of personality and would try anything I asked them to, no matter how strange (or dirty the ground looked). They are getting married up at Snow Basin at the end of the month and I expect that it is going to be phenomenal based off of what I know about them so far. Bridals will be posted soon also, so keep an eye out for them!

Tempted to wear matching clothing out to your next photo shoot? Look above and think twice. That was from a 1970’s JC Penney catalogue. 37 years later, we still see couples and families dressing in matching attire for their photo sessions.
While it is still acceptable to wear matching clothes for your shoot, you miss the opportunity to express your individuality and personality. Wardrobe is a BIG part of any good photo-shoot. The clothing you wear, makes a statement about you. Matching outfits say, “We’re together.” Instead, how about a statement that tells the world who you are?
If you’re appearing in a photo with someone else, by all means, coordinate your clothing, but think twice about matching outfits and make sure it’s what you’re going for.
