Some of you loyal blog readers may remember Christy & Nate’s wedding. Well, I just got word today that two of her pictures, featuring her wedding and her unique idea for a guestbook were featured on Utah Bride & Groom Magazine’s Blog.
They really liked her idea, and luckily, they liked the photos too. (Aren’t I shameless? Yes, yes I am). I heard that some of Christy and Nate’s pictures might pop up in another conspicuous place, so stay tuned for an update on that.
Christy, way to go! Cool huh?!

I was listening to the radio today, and I heard a very familiar voice. It was Tom Shane, bearing his testimony. Specifically, he was talking about holiday engagements. He reminds any grooms out there that they have a friend in the diamond business, at the corner of State Street and 7200 South… Yeah, yeah, you know the rest.
No, I’m not trying to endorse the Shane Company, but his advertisement raises a really good point. This year, just like every year, there are going to be oodles of engagements taking place over Christmas. Come early January those brides are going to be planning their weddings and booking their photographers, videographers, reception halls and so forth.
So… If you’re engaged and haven’t booked yet, it’d be a smart idea to start now so you can ensure that you can get first pick. Many of the popular vendors already have a large portion of their 2008 schedule booked (Retrospect included). So now really is the time to jump on it.

I just got done browsing a few of our couples personal blogs, it’s always so fun to get a glimpse of what our couples are up to. It’s a lot of fun to read about what’s going on in your lives.
I want to see your blogs or personal web sites too. Myspace, facebook, anything online that tells me about who you are. Please chime in on the comments and leave your name and URL. If you’re another photographer who pops in from time to time, leave your info too!

Jared and Nicole have 5 nephews. They keep a wall in their house dedicated just to these boys, and seeing they have grown quite a bit lately they decided it was time to update. I was totally excited when they asked me to do photograph the boys for them. The boy laughed and played the whole time, which makes it pretty easy to get some fun candids of them. We are photographing Jared and Nicole’s wedding in July and seeing that there are no little girls in the family yet, I am holding out for the two for you to be the first!!
P.S. Heidi is a great name when you need to start looking for one!

Lie to your family?! Doesn’t sound like the kind of values based advice you’d expect from us, does it?
Of course we’re not encouraging you to keep secrets, or hurtfully mislead anyone. However, sometimes a little fib is actually a favor. Like for instance, in getting people to arrive on-time for your events.
Most of the time, people can be 10-15 minutes late and it doesn’t really matter. On a wedding day (especially with a tight schedule) it can inconvenience you and everyone else. So, if you’ve got something (like your photos) scheduled for 4:30, tell your family and guests that pictures start at 4:15. It’s the best way to make sure that everyone is actually on-time.
Asking guests to arrive early, rarely works. They’re human, they forget. If you say, “Pictures start at 4:30, but it’s really important that you get there early.” They’ll only remember, “Pictures start at 4:30.” Now let’s say that guest also has kids to dress and wrangle. They’d have a hard time being punctual to dinner with the president.
So by telling them that the event starts earlier than it actually does, you’re ensuring that they’re on-time. That spares you the stress of having them show up late, and them the agony of getting scowled at for holding up the show. Do you and your guests a favor, fib a little about what time your event actually starts.

We got an album in for one of our couples, and before we sent it out the door we just had to snag a few shots of it to share with some of the rest of you. This is one of our premium books. It features a metal cover, a leather spine and cameo on the cover. This is also our only album that comes with a wooden keepsake box.
You can choose the color and type of metal, (aluminum, copper, etc) and the color of the leather. There are oodles of options. Drop in for a visit and we can show you our swatch book so you can see all of the choices available.

You probably remember Karrie and Kyle from their celebrity style wedding on September first. This wedding was also on the BrideAccess TV show as well.
Last weekend, they invited us back up for family portraits up at their gorgeous home in Park City. Karrie found a spot above their place with lots of trees and logs, very rustic. We also did some shots in and around their awesome property. Karrie and Kyle both ride Harleys, so at the end of the evening, we also did a few shots on those.
Seriously Karrie, your family is soo much fun to work with! We’ve been so blessed to have met you, and we look forward to doing more great things for you in the future!
