We’ve gotten a handful of compliments about our site since it’s redesign in January of this year. You may not have known this, but Tim (one of Retrospect’s owners and photographers) actually designed the site. Tim has worked in advertising both as a designer and photographer for the past 7 years, so he was well equipped to handle the job.
Recently, our web site has been getting a lot of traffic. Way more than average. Actually, we’ve been getting as much traffic in a single day as we normally do in an entire month. Who are they and where are they coming from? They’re other web designers. Our site got linked by Design Meltdown, a national design resource site that provides designers with examples of some of the internet’s best web design.
It’s a huge honor to be permanently added to their database. Though our goal was to create an awesome experience for our clients, it’s also nice to have your work recognized by professionals and industry experts.
Kim and John are from Las Vegas and came up a few weekends ago for their engagement photos. We had an awesome time running around Salt Lake and then we hit Market Street for some breakfast. Yep, they are troopers, the entire shoot before breakfast. They are getting married in the Las Vegas Temple in Novemeber and we cant wait. Not only will it be beautiful, it will be fabulous to get out of the cold weather for a weekend.
This is one for all of the professional or aspiring photographers that check our blog from time to time. You’re invited to our studio on Monday, October 29th at 6:30 PM to attend a workshop and learn all about Adobe Lightroom. This is your chance to see how some of Salt Lake’s successful photographers are using it to streamline their workflow and make editing and proofing sessions flow smoothly.
Michael Tallman, Jason McGrew, and I will be giving a demo on how to use Lightroom. In specific:
1. Michael will be giving a general overview of Lightroom. He’ll go over some basic features and benefits of the software.
2. Jason will be giving some insider tip and tricks on how to use the develop module to quickly make your pictures look amazing in both color and black and white.
3. I will help you get familiar with the power features of the library module and show you to use it to make editing and proofing sessions a snap.
The meeting will be hosted by Davina Fear, so if you’d like to attend, send an e-mail to davina (at) davinafear (dot) com with “LIGHTROOM PUG MEETING” in the subject line so she can get you invited and provide you with our address and details. Be sure to download the free demo onto your laptop so you can follow along!

Adobe Lightroom Essential Training - Lynda.com
The Lynda.com Adobe Lightroom training series is where I learned most of what I know about Lightroom. This page has some free movies that will get you acquainted with the software quickly. I highly recommend viewing these before coming to the session, you’ll be one step ahead of the game.
A friend forwarded this clip to me. A fantastic and creative rendition of Star Wars, played on a trumpet. The costume and choreography are priceless, absolutely priceless. I just had to share it with some of our blog readers.
Jen and Clint are the cutest couple, and they have the most romantic proposal story. They like to go for walks, and one of their special places was at the Jordan River Parkway. So we headed down there for the “short walk” to the boardwalk area Clint had lit up with hundreds of little lights on the night of his surprize proposal. Then we headed up millcreek canyon for the last of the green and wildflowers. I cant believe the wedding is only about a month away!
