This is Angela & Tim. They met through a local church their parents go to. Angela lives out in California, where the wedding will be in May of next year (that’s right girls, we’re already booking that far out!). Oh yeah, and the venue where the wedding will be is amazing! Tim is a Med student here at the University of Utah. They’ve had a long distance relationship going for quite some time now.
We had a blast with these guys romping all over downtown, and Angela & Tim have promised to take us out for some killer Dim Sum. We’ve also got something REALLY cool planned for their invitations that will bring in a little of their unique story. We can’t wait to do the next shoot in November guys! Enjoy some of the cool shots we already got!

We shot this one at the beginning of September. Karrie & Kyle have been together for 8 years. They recently built a 9,000 square foot grand residence high atop a mountain in Park City. The house sits on a 20 acre lot in protected wild-life preserve. They bought an old sheep shearing barn in Roosevelt so that their house could be fitted with old barn-wood. Ceilings, floors, exterior and even some of the doors and beams came from the barn. There are thousands of board-feet of the gorgeous aged wood and it gives the house a very unique style and flair. The house has a story all it’s own…
Karrie decided to host a housewarming party, and when most everyone RSVP’d, she had another idea… She decided to turn it into her wedding, but she didn’t tell any of the guests. Remember, that’s what Julia Roberts did when she got married.
We were there under the guise of staff photographers for Utah Style & Design Magazine. BrideAccess.com was pretending to be from Hot Homes of Utah. We made sure not to blow her cover. Karrie sat everyone down and then started a slideshow of the house being built. It showed images of the construction and so forth and then went into a montage of shots they’d had taken together over the past 8 years. Then at the last minute, one of her best friends announced that they’d all actually been invited to a wedding… and Karrie marched down the aisle before the shock wore off.
Yep, not even her dear old mom and dad knew what they were in for. How cool is that?? There is nothing traditional about Karrie, she does things her own way with world class style. Instead of a dress, she bought a $1000 pair of boots and wore some styling Ralph Lauren denim. Keeping in sync with her western theme she had a mechanical bull and lots of other touches as you’ll see in the pictures. This definitely marks one of the weddings of the year, and we’re so glad Karrie picked us to photograph it for her. Have a look…

We shot with Katie and Kai a little while ago up in Park City, one of Kai’s favorite places for shopping (He’s a denim snob, knows his jeans). As you can see from the first image, the fall leaves are already starting to show some color. We had a great time with them up on the lifts and bumming around the mountain town. Kai, she’s looking pretty good in these pictures, right?

We’ve booked a handful of destination weddings lately. Just a few days ago, we had someone e-mail to inquire about traveling to Japan for a wedding, which might officially be as far as we’ve travelled. That made me really curious to find out how our name has gotten that far around the globe. I also wanted to see where else people are visiting from.
The map below is provided by my site statistics software (Google Analytics). Any country in green is one where someone living there visited our site. I was very surprised to see visitors from all around the globe. Figuring out how they found us is eaiser than you’d think. Glyn, one of our grooms has people visiting the site to view his pictures. They’re coming from Dubai, Hawaii, the UK and a number of other places. Many of our grooms (and a portion of our brides) are return missionaries who forward the link onto people they met and grew close to while living abroad.
The countries in darkest green, send more traffic than others. It’s no surprise that the US is dark green being that 90% of our site traffic comes from the US. However, Japan is also clearly darker than the rest…. It’ll be interesting to see if we get more inquiries about events in Japan in the months ahead. I’m still trying to track down the exact reason for all of the traffic from Japan, as there are a LOT of visitors.
If you’re visiting the site from a far off place, chime in on the comments to this post. Let us all know you’re here and where you’re visiting from. We’d love to get a Hello from you!

As the seasons change, so do the style and flair of the images taken at that time of year. I was hoping to give clients an update so they can know what to expect and plan for during their fall season photography. The sun setting is earlier now, and we lose about 15 minutes of daylight every week or so.
San Francisco / Northern California
You’ve no doubt noticed that temperatures are in the low 70’s, and also dipping down into the 60’s. The water temperature is also starting to cool more, so shots at the beach might be even chillier. Then again… the water is always cold.
Many native plants to the region don’t display much color throughout the fall. However, most of the botanical gardens (UC Berkeley especially) have non-native plants and trees that display rich seasonal color.
During October the vineyards throughout wine country start displaying delicious yellows and reds. The Old Sonoma Highway as well as Highway 21 are splendid drives throughout the month. The beautiful fall leaves and photo opportunity present an excellent excuse to head out for an engagement or bridal session and a wine tasting.
Salt Lake Area
As you no doubt have noticed, many trees are still green, which gives a few brides the chance to still get some great pictures with summer’s touch. Usually early to mid october is when the trees in the valley start changing and that’s the ideal time for shooting autumn themed pictures in the valley. It’s great for family shoots as well, so get your sessions booked!
Great Salt Lake
With the colder temperatures, the insects near the Great Salt Lake are starting to greatly reduce in numbers. In a very short while, the window for doing pictures out there will be open. The Great Salt Lake is an awesome place for people who want pictures that don’t look like they were taken in Utah.
Park City / Canyons
We were up in Park City last week and the leaves are starting to change. It’s the same with Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Right now, the higher you go the more color you’ll see. I’m told that there was a lower level of moisture received throughout the spring/summer and that the colors may not be as bright as past years… not that our clients ever have to worry about colors looking dull.
I’ll post another update as Autumn starts changing to Winter with more ideas on locations and what can be expected.

Amanda is a photographer. We’re always so flattered when we get the chance to work with other photographers who know their stuff. It also gives us a chance to experiment and try new things to match their style and taste. Amanda loves high-contrast, backlit and uber moody pictures. It only made sense to do a night shoot with some off-camera flash.
Amanda & Ryan are both from Las Vegas, in fact, Amanda is Adam’s sister, you may remember Kilee & Adam from a blog post earlier this year. Anyhow, we had such a wonderful time creating some great images for these two! We’re excited to shoot your wedding next month!

Okay, so he’s not really Tom Cruise’s little brother - but he totally looks the part, right?
Sarah & Adam have been together for 5 years, dating all through high-school. They’re a way cute couple, we’re excited for the wedding. They were referred by Lee Olsen, BrideAccess.com’s relationship coach. He’ll be performing their ceremony in October. Guys, this was a totally fun shoot! Enjoy the pictures!
