Out and About With Counselor Lee

We had so much fun last night with Counselor Lee! Tim has known Lee for over 10 years. Lee is the regularly appearing relationship coach on the UtahBrides.com television show and Web site and he also performs marriage ceremonies (beautifully, I might add!). He helps many of his clients learn what they should expect in their new marriages and helps make them make the transition into married life a little easier. We took Lee out for dinner and a photo shoot. We had a great time at The Paris and trouncing all over town with you Lee! We hope you love these photos as much as we do!

Colette and Shaw: A Fairytale Wedding in France

I was lucky enough to go to France to photograph Colette and Shaw’s wedding. It was amazing. They couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous day. It was warm, the sun shining and the vineyards were green and beautiful. Their ceremony was intimate, as we all circled closely around while they made their promises to each other. I couldn’t help but get caught in the emotion. I kept thinking, how truly blessed I am to be able to travel to far away places and witness some of the most important moments in another’s life.

After the ceremony and portraits it was time for dinner. Colette’s sister, Tiffany had put together a fantastic table setting, complete with soft glowing candles and fine wine. Very romantic. Dinner was fabulous, and my hosts were gracious enough to set a place for me so I could join them. They cut the cake after dinner and, can I tell you, I have never had wedding cake as delicious. Music and dancing followed… It was a fairy tale wedding, perfect all the way through.

Colette, Shaw, and your loving families, Thank you so much for sharing your day with me. You all treated me like I was one of your own. I had a wonderful time meeting you all and being a part of the beginning of your own happily ever after…

Two Guitar Heros - Shredding.

The other night, Mason and BreAnn, two of our clients came over to the studio. Many of our fellow photographers, and even clients know that we have fun with our couples. How much fun? Read on… While BreAnn and Heidi were working on their custom invitations, Mason and I were shredding it up on Guitar Hero on the Big Screen. We played, Free Bird, Sweet Child O’ Mine and a handful of other hits. It took a few songs before I was fully on board, but then I rocked it out on Bass and Rhythm guitar. Seriously Mase, bring that bad-boy-toy over anytime, we’ll rock it out dude. That was flipping awesome, and I had THE best time jamming with you.

Matt and Vicki: Taking Pictures of Taking Pictures…

Okay, so here is the story: While we were interviewing Matt and Vicki, we found out an interesting fact about them. Matt is an avid photographer. He takes pictures of EVERYTHING. Matt even has pictures of the first date Vicki and him went on (Who even has those?!). He has pictures of his proposal to her and pretty much EVERY day in between and ever since. So naturally, we told him to bring HIS camera along for the photo shoot. We took pictures of them, taking pictures of themselves – it’s what they do and it was a great way to tell a story that’s so… them!

We also had an awesome time traipsing all over Salt Lake City. We got all sorts of cool photos! Guys seriously, we love your photos–we hope you do too!

Kathie: The Classic Look

We took Kathie up to Red Butte Gardens for her bridal sitting a few days ago. What a trooper she and her Mom were. We dragged them all over the gardens and neither complained even once. They turned out fabulous, all that hiking was worth it! All the flowers smelled delicious throughout the gardens, and they looked as good as they smelled. Red Butte’s pristinely maintained gardens were the perfect complement to Kathie’s classic look.

Christy & Nate: It’s Like Rain…

Christy & Nate! What a cool couple, with great friends. Their wedding happened to be on a rainy day, and we ended up doing some shooting in the JSMB. We got the group shots on the steps, and then they opted to take advantage of a not-so-well-known service we offer… The Rainy Day Guarantee. We’ll be taking them back out for their couples portraits on another day when the weather is fabulous - for free. We still got lots of great candids at their ring ceremony and reception, but we’re headed back out in the next week or so! Take a look at some of the beautiful stuff we were able to get so far! Seriously Christy, we had a blast with you two, looking forward to round 2!

France, a fairytale wedding in a whirlwind

So, it is 3:30AM, yes check out the clock in the photo… I am sitting in a little airport in France, very alone and very bored. I just resorted to taking a lame photo of myself for the blog. I just finished shooting a fairly-tale wedding in a beautiful chateau in Provence. It was so amazing, vineyards and all.

I had quite the adventure getting here. First, my flight to LA was an hour late, that meant I would not make the flight to Paris, which in turn meant I would not make the wedding. Luckily, my Dad had offered to take me to the airport as Tim was photographing at the time, and he and his infinite knowledge of airports and their little tricks, got me on another airline flight and I made it to LA just in time to make the flight to Paris. Then things got a little stickier. The flight had been re-routed due to bad weather and was full hour late getting into Pairs, my next flight had already left the airport. I almost cried. The bride and her parents had arranged for a car to be there to pick me up at 8:00 and I wouldn’t be there until 10:30. I had another flight at that point but no way to get to the chateau, which is an hour drive from the airport. You’d think, no big deal, call the bride right? No. None of the exchange booths were open at that point so I couldn’t get any Euros, and funny thing, the phones here don’t take quarters. I did manage to get on the internet where through Dustin, Tim, and my Dad, I got through to the bride and a car showed up to get me in the end! So I slept at my hotel a little, then got up for the wedding.

It was gorgeous. I can’t believe I was lucky enough to be a part of it. The people in this family were unbelievable, so very kind and willing to take such good care of me. I will, of course be posting some of their amazing photos here on the blog. Their party ended around 1:00 and instead of sleeping for two hours and getting back up to come to the airport, I opted to come straight to the airport and hang out. So here I am, eating a little snack that the bride’s wonderful mom packed for me and writing some stuff on here. This has just been crazy. By the time I get home this trip will be over 45 hours of flying and layovers, and only 15 waking hours in France. When it comes down to it, I haven’t even been here long enough to get jetlag. Is this insane? Yes. Was it worth it? You better believe it!

Sarah: It Was a Miracle.

I can’t even begin to say how thrilled I am with these photos. It rained all day on Thursday and we thought we were doomed to photograph inside only. However, a half an hour before we were supposed to go out, the clouds parted and a fantastic blue sky broke through. None of us could believe it. Sarah is so completely natural at this. I could have photographed her all day and never been tired! Sarah, I hope you love these as much as I do!
p.s. Check out the bird flying by on the second photo - hot.
